25: Criminal Profiling
I remember travelling back from Brussels on the Eurostar. As all of the passengers were disembarking at London St Pancras, the only man of Middle Eastern appearance in the group around me was stopped by police and told to empty his backpack as everyone else walked by. He was clearly annoyed and upset by this request, and having to do it so publicly. He was soon let go when it was clear he posed no danger. I felt very guilty that, due to being white, I was very unlikely to ever experience that kind of targeted criminal profiling.
