I, a white woman, was out with a black male friend one evening and I decided to buy a beer for the walk, for religious reasons he doesn't drink. The police stopped us to say it's not legal to drink in the street and I apologised. The police woman said to me: "You don't have to cover for him. I know the beer isn't yours."
