94: “90% of the lecturers are white”

When I joined a London art school I remember walking into the admin office and immediately noticed that 95% of the administrators were black, the cleaners were black. The canteen staff were polish or Brazilian. 90% of the lecturers are white. I had never seen this class and race divide so clearly before – to immediately understand an institution as racist, it was and continues to be astonishing.
