54: “Because their cooking would smell..”

My husband and I were talking to a family member who was selling her house. She said she wouldn't want to sell it some Asian families who looked around it "because their cooking would smell and she wouldn't want to do that to her neighbours." My husband and I almost choked on our drinks and we said the attitude was racist. Another member of the family told us to "Fuck off, there's enough of that going around" (in reference to the ongoing BLM protests) and the person who had made the racist comment said "I thought I shouldn't have mentioned this to you" , implying that we were being unreasonable.
