I remember talking with a mixed race teenage boy from my church youth group and asking him about his experience of secondary schools in the area. As we walked, I asked for his opinion on which schools might be good for my primary age children in the future and he replied saying that because my kids are white they will be ok anywhere… a moment of recognition that whilst we may be walking alongside each other our paths are still very different.
