22: Stop and Search

I was walking with my primary aged children a while ago and we saw a black teenager being stop and searched by the police. My kids were a bit shocked about what was happening and asked me more. I explained more about stop and search and the reality that it is overwhelming black young men who get stopped. I also shared stories I had heard from black teenagers in our church about being stopped by the police. Both my children were visibly angered by the situation and we talked together about whether Stop and Search is worthwhile or causes more damage than it ever solves. “Its not fair mum”.
