121: “ I told my Black colleagues what happened, and they were offended”

At work (we are removal men) we was moving a very rich family the man came up to me and said to me 'Hey. I see you have a few men with you'. 'As long as it's no black people in the house, only white people inside'. He expected me to organise this segregation because I am the team leader. What he didn't realise is I felt deeply uncomfortable and shocked by his outlook. He didn't trust our black colleagues moving his furniture into his house, or even want them inside his house. He wanted them to drop the boxes and furniture by the front door. I told my black colleagues what happened, and they were offended, one of them pretended to pick up a box and walk down the road in jest to wind the owner up...but it's probably one of the most memorable examples of racism I've personally witnessed.
