66: Shopping at LIDL
A a couple of weeks ago, I was leaving my local LIDL supermarket when I set of the alarm as I left the shop. As I looked around, the security guard wave me through without a thought. The alarm at that shop is a bit trigger happy so I've seen that happen a lot, and I realised if I was a black man, instead of white, there's no way that situation would have happened like that. And it made me realise just how much black people are socially surveilled and experience these micro-examples of racism on a daily basis, and how exhausting and angering that must be. And what a privilege it is that my experience of the world is completely free of that.
